Ingredients:

- 2 cups raisins
- 1 cup uncooked prunes
- 1 cup halved candied cherries
- 2 cups sliced citron
- 1/2 cup candied pineapple
- 1/4 cup candied lemon peel
- 1/2 cup candied orange peel
- 1 1/2 cups broken walnuts
- 1/2 T grated orange rind
- 1/2 cup fruit juice
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 t salt
- 1 1/2 t baking powder
- 1/2 lb shortening
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 t cinnamon
- 1 t cloves
- 1/2 t allspice
- 1 t mace
- 5 eggs - beaten
- 12 T vanilla
Directions:

- Rinse raisins, drain, dry on a towel.
- Pour boiling water over the prunes and cover. Let them sit for 10 minutes then drain. Dry them then cut from pits into very small pieces.
- Rinse, drain, and dry citron and cherries before slicing.
- Combine the fruit, the nuts, and the orange rind. Pour the fruit juice over the combined fruits.
- Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder together.
- Cream the shortening, sugar, and spices until fluffy.
- Add the beaten eggs to the shortening and mix. Then add the flour, the fruit mixture, and the vanilla. Stir until the fruits are well distributed.
- Pour into pans and bake in a 275 degree oven for 3 to 4 hours.
