"When one has once fully entered the realm of love, the world -no matter how imperfect- becomes rich and beautiful, it consists soley of opportunities for love."
- Soren Kierkegaard

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace,
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,-I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!-and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

There is a lot of speculation concerning the origin of Saint Valentine's Day. The history isn't as happy as we would like to believe, although it has always been centered around love in one form or another. Care to know more? Then follow this link to the

The first true, written Valentine card is usually attributed to Charles, Duke of Orleans. It was 1415 and he was imprisoned in the Tower of London at the time. He fought his lonely confinement by writing romantic verses for his wife.
Although the principle of love behind the Valentine card might be the same, the card itself certainly has come a long way. The Valentine card gained in popularity in the early 1800's with the introduction of the penny postcard. Since then, it has become a tradition for children to give these Valentine cards to all the other children in their classes. Today, you can even send virtual Valentine cards!
